Capitals Trade Matt Ford and Danny Richmond

Bon Voyage, Matt and Danny. Photos by Kyle Mace.

It was announced this afternoon that the Caps made a set of trades. Matt Ford was sent to Philadelphia in exchange for 22-year-old defenseman Kevin Marshall of the Adirondack Phantoms. Marshall recorded two goals and three assists in 32 games with the Phantoms. He also played ten games this season with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Additionally, Danny Richmond was also traded away for center Mike Carman of the Lake Erie Monsters. The 23-year-old has earned three goals and three assists in 28 games with the Monsters. Losing Ford and Richmond has helped Hershey handle the veteran situation and get some young guys in the line-up.

Always classy, Matt Ford had this to say:

Meanwhile, Ryan Potulny spoke with Carman, his old teammate at University of Minnesota:

Best of luck to Ford and Richmond! The new guys are expected to play tomorrow night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. What do you guys think of the trades?

  2. Going to miss ford but Richmond really was a non-factor anyway. With kundratek and Marshall the bears should get more solid and maybe win more cOnsistently. This probably is not the only move from the caps that directly affects the bears.
