Potulny’s Two Goals Lead Bears past the Monarchs

Ryan Potulny acknowledges his #1 Star honors.

Fresh off of being on the wrong side of a shutout, the Bears seemed determined that tonight’s game against the Manchester Monarchs would not suffer the same fate.

Unfortunately, the Monarchs did take the lead just over a minute into the game. Justin Azevedo chipped a shot over Braden Holtby‘s glove hand on the first shot of the game.

But the Bears weren’t just going to sit back and let the Monarchs take over. During the second period, Ryan Potulny scored twice (both times on the power play). They were almost identical one-timer shots from the right face-off circle.

The third period had some close moments but the score didn’t change. Thanks to Potulny, the Bears win, 2-1! Remember, tomorrow’s game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers airs at 3:00 on abc27!

Tonight’s Notes:

  • Joel Rechlicz almost got a goal but it was waved off thanks a quick whistle. Rechlicz then got his frustration out by fighting Justin Johnson.
  • Not wanting to miss out on the fun, Andrew Carroll had a fight of his own against Richard Clune and did a great job delivering the blows.
  • Christian Hanson went missing during the game. During the broadcast, Scott Stuccio said that it was due to a cut on his wrist. But it is not serious and that he may be good to play tomorrow.
  • And finally, a screenshot of the intermission entertainment, the Zooperstars (Whale Gretzky, Mackerel Jordan, and Bobby Orrangutang). You can’t make these things up.
