Bears Drop Their Second Game in a Row, 3-2 (SO)

After being on the wrong end of a 6-1 thrashing last night, the Bears had a second chance to show their stuff against the St. John’s IceCaps.

The Bears weren’t able to get into a groove in the first period as both teams were in and out of the penalty boxes. But Ryan Potulny gave the Bears their first ever lead against the IceCaps with a power play goal a few minutes into the second period.

The lead only lasted a few minutes as the IceCaps tied it up with a power play goal of their own from Paul Postma. Tie game after forty minutes.

St. John’s took back the lead in the third period with a bit of a controversial goal. The Bears were arguing that it was hit with a high-stick but the refs stuck with their call. With under three minutes left in the game, Matt Pope potted his 7th goal of the season to tie it up once again!

All tied up after three periods, so the game pushed on to overtime and then a shootout. Dany Sabourin stopped 3 of 4 shooters but Eddie Pasquale stopped all five Hershey shooters.

It was a much closer game this time but, unfortunately, Bears lose, 3-2 (SO).
