Hershey Bears team officials have confirmed that forward Garrett Mitchell is out for the regular season. Mitchell told PennLive.com’s Tim Leone that his third year in Hershey might be over early. The 22-year-old tore his right labrum in his shoulder, an injury that will require surgery.

Mitchell has yet to play a game in the NHL, despite good numbers in Hershey the past three season. In 157 games in a Chocolate and White sweater, the forward has 47 points 223 penalty minutes.

The Regina, Saskatchewan native will have surgery in Washington on Thursday and will take four months to rehab, taking him to an April return for the playoffs.

Hershey takes on Binghamton Wednesday night at 7pm. You can watch the game on abc27.2 RTV.
