The Hershey Bears captain for the second half of the 2014-15 season has jumped ship for a new organization. Steve Oleksy, after three seasons in the Washington Capitals organization, the defenseman has joined forces with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Oleksy will seek an opening night roster spot with NHL Pittsburgh after gaining 62 games of experience in Washington over the last three seasons. In the NHL, he posted three goals and 19 points, but played in only one game the 2014-15 season.

He has played 153 regular season games in Hershey and posted a total of six goals and 29 assists. The transaction could lead to Oleksy making a debut with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Hershey’s I-81 rival.

Thanks for the memories, Steve. Especially the ones of you beating up your new teammate Bobby Farnham.
