The Washington Capitals made six cuts from their training camp roster Monday morning, setting up their final roster of 24 players. Included on that opening night roster are seven players who played with Hershey last season. Stan Galiev, Philipp Grubauer, Chris Brown, Nate Schmidt, Andre Burakovsky and Dmitry Orlov. Burakovsky and Orlov played only small stints with Hershey last year. Both Galiev and Grubauer make the opening night roster for the first time in their careers.

Galiev led Hershey in the 2014-15 in power play goals and was tied for the lead in overall goals. He received his first NHL recall at the end of last season, scoring his first NHL goal in a game against the New York Rangers.

Last season, Grubauer was Hershey’s number one goalie, playing just under 3,000 minutes, finishing the season with a 27-17-5 record with the Bears. Hershey will see Justin Peters come to Chocolate Town and build a goalie tandem with Dan Ellis after the departure of Pheonix Copley in the T.J. Oshie trade with St. Louis.

The Bears will have Chandler Stephenson and Liam O’Brien join them, along with Aaron Ness and Ryan Stanton. The final cut from Caps camp, Derek Roy, will most like not come to Hershey as he was on a PTO with the Capitals.

Hershey kicks off their season Saturday against Springfield for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
