Chris Bourque Scores 400th Point in 400th Game with Hershey

Only twelve people in 78 seasons have accomplished such a feat. Saturday night Chris Bourque joined the ranks of Willie Marshall, Mitch Lamoureux, and Ralph Keller as he scored his 400th point as a Hershey Bear with an assist on Paul Carey’s goal in the third period.

“I’ve played with some great players,” Bourque said. “You can’t do that unless you play with guys like [Keith] Aucoin, Mathieu Perreault, [Jay] Beagle, [Alex] Giroux; The list goes on and on. They make it easy for you. Give them the puck and they score. You play with a guy like Aucoin, he puts it on the tee for you and you score; All you have to do is finish it.

“Luckily enough I’ve played on some great teams here. The best part is that we’ve won all those championships. I’ve loved my time in Hershey.”

Despite not playing for Hershey since 2012, Bourque currently sits 12th all-time in Bears scoring behind Obie O’Brien and Keller. “In the off season, based on last year’s success, we didn’t feel we had a game changer type player. Chris Bourque for his whole career has been a game changer type player,” head coach Troy Mann said after the game.

“He has that ability to step up when the game is on the line to make that right type of play and make a good play. There is a reason he has 400 points and now 400 games as a Hershey Bear. We brought him back for a reason. We saw it last week when he tied the game up with the pass to [Jakub] Vrana and we saw it tonight setting up the game winning goal. That’s what you need to win games and championships. He’s been the MVP of the Calder Cup playoffs for a reason and that’s why we signed him.”

Bourque is only three points behind O’Brien for 11th all-time and 48 behind Roger DeJordy and Lamoureux for seventh all-time.
