Monday night, the first-ever AHL All-Star Challenge took place in Syracuse, New York, as all four AHL divisions took each other on in a seven-game round robin tournament. In addition to this new event, we now are able to gif live video. So let’s dive on into the 2016 AHL All-Star Challenge gif recap!

Bourque and Carrick introduced:
As the Pacific would fall to the North in the first game, former Bear and current Ontario Reign goalie would show some goalie love to fellow netminder Mike McKenna of Portland as the Atlantic took the ice for game two:
Chris Bourque with a bomb of a buzzer beater to tie the game with the Central Division and force it to a shootout.

Second angle on Bourque’s goal. Beautiful.

All AHL All-Stars were wearing special 24 decals in a show of support for injured NWHL player Denna Laing. The AHL announced they would make a donation to her foundation to help in her recovery from her spinal injury. If you would like to find out more or make a donation, visit DennaLaing.org.

Former Bear Karl Alzner talked about his time in the AHL, mentioing that other former Bears currently in Washington often talk about their experience in Hershey, calling it “some of the best times of our lives.”

Before the game, Binghamton Senator Michael Kostka chrips Bourque and Carrick

Someone probably should have told Kostka there are cameras EVERYWHERE during the All-Star game:
After two games, Carrick and Bourque still looking fresh:

Carrick jumps in:

And so does ESPN’s John Buccigross:

With neither Bear in any action in the second Atlantic game, we jump ahead to game six.

Bourque scores his second of the night.

The Central prepares to face the Atlantic in the finals with the best way possible: pizza!

The Central would score four in the championship, taking down the Atlantic Division and winning the AHL All-Star challenge in the process. Bourque would finish the night with two goals and two assists, Carrick one assist of his own. Hershey is back in action Friday night in Binghamton.
