US Soccer Star and Hershey Native Christian Pulisic Visits the Bears

Christian Pulisic is one of the biggest up-and-coming soccer stars in the entire world, and he’s a Hershey, PA native. At only 18-years-old, Pulisic has accomplished a lot in his short career so far. He is the youngest foreigner player to score a goal in the Bundesliga, the youngest USMNT player to score a goal in World Cup Qualifying history, and joined Borussia Dortmund’s first team over winter break of last year. His father, Mark, was a star for the Harrisburg Heat indoor soccer team from 1991 to 1999.

Tonight, Pulisic came to Giant Center to take in a Bears game. Prior to the game, he played some two-touch with the Bears, a set of skills we put to the test in a soccer challenge a few weeks ago with some of the Bears.

“I’m very proud to be from the Hummelstown-Hershey area,” Pulisic said to Jim Jones during the first intermission of Friday night’s game. “It’s great to be here and see all of you guys.”

Pulisic said he gets to spend a little bit of time home each year but will be heading back on New Year’s Day to Germany. Dortmund currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga table, resuming their season on January 21 against Werder Bremen.

Being the competitive people they are, the Bears seemed to actively try and knock Pulisic out of their two-touch game. “I was very impressed with the talent in that locker room,” he said to Jonesy. “They’re some competitive guys.”
