Nathan Walker is one of the most popular Bears players in recent memory and a game-issued jersey of his is extremely hard to come by. One is now available, and you have the chance to win it and help a good cause at the same time.
Saturday night at Giant Center the Hershey Bears wore specialty USA themed flag jerseys. The Bears would pick up a 6-1 victory over Lehigh Valley.
Every year, in conjunction with the Hershey Bears, Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar coordinates a fundraising night at their locations where Hershey Bears players make an on-site appearance to meet guests, sign autographs, guest bartend, etc. to benefit “Running for Rachel,” a yearly 5K which supports Duodenal cancer research.
Rachel Guss, for which the charity was named after, was a local to the Harrisburg area and was known by many Arooga’s employees. She lost her battle with the aggressive illness in 2011. Last year this event raised over $8,000 in just two hours to benefit the charity’s annual 5K.
Sunday night the Hershey Bears held a Star Wars night, with the team sporting specialty jerseys with a Star Wars theme. The jerseys have been hyped up for weeks by jersey collectors and after the game against Binghamton, they raised $42,100 for charity.

If you need your hockey fix with the Hershey Bears are on the road this weekend, head on over to Klick Lewis Arena in Palmyra to watch the Fifth Annual Broomball for Autism Awareness Sunday, March 13th at 10 am! Local media personalities will be participating in this event, helping raise money for the Autism Society Greater Harrisburg.

On Friday, December 5th, the Hershey Bears Better Halves will hold their annual Christmas fundraiser. This year’s event will feature the traditional team autographed Christmas ornaments and a cookbook of favorite holiday recipes that the players enjoy.
You will be able to purchase the ornaments and cookbooks behind section 119, where both will be $25. There are only 1,000 cookbooks, with 200 random ones having signatures from the players in them.
It’s become a nationwide awareness and fund raising effort for men’s health and ten members of the Hershey Bears are taking part. “Movember” gets men to grow mustaches in the month of November to increase conversation about men’s health, getting them to take action with visits to the doctor, and to raise money for research for prostate and testicular cancer. Last year alone, the Movember campaign raised over $147 million.

On any given night at Giant Center, it is not unusual to see Hershey Bears wives and girlfriends behind section 120, helping to raise money for a good cause. This past Sunday, the first of what promises to be a number of fund raising efforts took place in behalf of breast cancer awareness.
