After a year hiatus, the Hershey Bears brought back the popular “Hockey + Heels” night at Giant Center. Female fans had the opportunity to learn about the game of hockey from Bears players and staff in personalized instructional sessions.

“It’s really cool to get the ladies in here and have a good time with them,” said Bears forward Liam O’Brien. “Show them how to shoot a puck, or how the goalie gear works. They probably haven’t been around that environment before.”

“It’s like a big girls night,” Garrett Pilon commented. The event was something Pilon had not heard of before coming to Hershey’s outing on Tuesday night. “It seems like a pretty good event. Lots of music, photos, on-ice stuff – it’s pretty cool.”

Over 220 women attended and were given a tour of Hershey’s locker room, had a panel session with the wives of the coaching staff, and on-ice instructional sessions with players on shooting and passing.

“It’s the simple things like taping your stick,” remarked O’Brien. “Just the little things that they notice and they’re like ‘How do you guys do that?’ It’s cool to kind of explain that to them and for them to learn, and it really helps grow the game as well.”
