Consecutive hockey games on the weekend continue to haunt the Hershey Bears, and the losing ways continued on Saturday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. A night after David Leggio back stopped his team to a 4-2 win, his teammates went an embarrassing 1-for-9 on the power play leading to a 4-2 loss.

Several days shy of the midway point in November, the Hershey Bears Hockey Club entered Saturday eyeing their third win of the season. The top affiliate for the New York Islanders, Bridgeport Sound Tigers came into the match up tied with Hershey in standings points near the Eastern Conference’s dungeon.
The Bears’ watched their two goal lead in the third period evaporate leading to another shootout at Giant Center. However despite a ten round marathon shootout with a combined 11 goals, Dane Byers netted the game-winner in the tenth round followed by a Philipp Grubuaer win to secure a 3-2 shootout win.

For the seventh time in their careers, Joel Rechlicz and Brett Gallant dropped the mitts and had one heck of a fight. It always fires up the crowd when these two duke it out, and this time was no exception. One of their former fights was named Puck Daddy’s 2011 fight of the year, and after you watch this one, you’ll probably think it’s a contender for the 2013 awards.

Following a dreadful 0-for-6 weekend in the points column, the Hershey Bears sought a desperate bounce back win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. After 60 minutes of end-to-end, scoreless hockey, Garrett Mitchell played the role of hero for Hershey with an overtime game-winning goal to seal two points.

With the Giant Center ice troubling the Hershey Bears Hockey Club, they looked for their tenth road win of the campaign in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Braden Holtby was named a healthy scratch, as Dany Sabourin backstopped the Bears to an exciting 4-3 overtime win over the Sound Tigers. Tomas Kundratek tallied two goals, including the overtime game winner to help tame the Tigers.

Friday evening, Braden Holtby earned his third consecutive start, as the Hershey Bears looked to continue their winning ways against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Four Hershey third period goals proved to be the decisive factor, as the Bears silenced the Sound Tigers, 5-2.

The power may still be out to parts of the Tri-State area, but the power was working just fine in Bridgeport on Saturday night. The Bridgeport power play that is. The Sound Tigers scored three power plays goals on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Bears.

Just about halfway through their five-game road stretch, the Bears shipped off to face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
In a pretty calm first period, neither team found the back of the net. Braden Holtby and Anders Nilsson weren’t called on to make too many saves for their respective teams but there were some good chances. It was a close game from the start.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers made their final visit to Hershey for the season tonight, and they Bears were happy to see them. They greeted them with five goals and Dany Sabourin and his shutout sent them home with a loss as the Bears won 5-0.
