Sunday afternoon the Hershey Bears traveled to Atlantic City to face the Albany Devils at the historic Boardwalk Hall. A night after his 40 save shutout spectacle, Philipp Grubauer received his second straight start in goal. Defensive turnovers and let downs in front of Grubauer led to a 6-4 loss on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Hershey Bears fans welcomed an old friend back to Giant Center, but his new team wasn’t very friendly. Former Bears defenseman Dean Arsene returned as a member of the St John’s IceCaps and helped beat the Bears 2-1 at Giant Center on Saturday night.

Stan Galiev Scores Game-Winning Shootout Goal in Hershey Bears 3-2 Win

Friday the Hershey Bears looked to leap over the Springfield Falcons on the road for their fourth win of the year. Entering against the 5-1-0-1 Falcons, Braden Holtby received the nod to start in goal. It was Holtby’s first start since his 35-save shutout over Albany, six days prior. In front of a Springfield crowd of 3,489 fans, Boyd Kane and Matt Pope found the score sheet and Stan Galiev had the game-winning goal in the shootout as the Bears topped the Falcons, 3-2 (SO).

Bears Drop Their Second Game in a Row, 3-2 (SO)

After being on the wrong end of a 6-1 thrashing last night, the Bears had a second chance to show their stuff against the St. John’s IceCaps.

The Bears weren’t able to get into a groove in the first period as both teams were in and out of the penalty boxes. But Ryan Potulny gave the Bears their first ever lead against the IceCaps with a power play goal a few minutes into the second period.

In a match-up of the league’s most storied teams, the Bears were looking for a solid win on the road after experience some issues in this stretch.

Sadly, it didn’t turn out like they hoped. It started off just like we wanted it to. A gritty play resulted in Matt Pope chipping at puck at David Leggio. It took a nice bounce and hopped into the goal. But the Amerks scored on the power play and then during the final minute of the period to take the lead.

It’s almost time for the All-Star break but first the Hershey Bears have to play back-to-back games against the Norfolk Admirals.

The Hershey Bears have picked up many rivals throughout the years. It’s not much of a secret that these teams always play a tough game against each other. The first period saw seven combined penalties and no score.
