Jakub Vrana Washington Capitals Hockey Hershey Bears

Forward Jakub Vrana has been recalled by the Washington Capitals – his first NHL call-up.

In 18 games for Hershey this season, Vrana has 16 points with nine goals. Vrana, 20, is in his third season with the Bears, playing 57 games for the Chocolate and White, including 31 playoff games.

Vrana was drafted by the Capitals in the first round in 2014, 13th overall. The Czech Republic native came to Hershey in 2015, scoring his first pro goal on May 2, 2015.

Paul Carey Scores First NHL Goal with Washington

One day after getting his second recall from Hershey to the NHL, Paul Carey scored his first NHL goal Saturday afternoon. Carey played in only 24 NHL games before today, scoring only one point, an assist, in a stint with Colorado last season. On Saturday, that monkey on the 27-year-old’s back was lifted, as he scored the game-tying goal for Washington against New Jersey, sending the game to overtime for the Capitals, and later a shootout, in which Washington would win.
