After 30-Plus Years, J.D. Mathers Returns to Broadcast Booth

Hockey Hall of Famer Frank Mathers name is legendary with Hershey Bears fans. The longtime team President, General Manager, Coach, and player helped to set the standard of excellence for Hershey Bears hockey.

Another Mathers is sure to be remembered by Hershey fans as well and this past weekend he returned to the broadcast booth for the first time in over three decades. Former Bears announcer and Frank’s son, J.D. Mathers, sat in with Bears announcer Scott Stuccio during Sunday’s broadcast.

abc27 and Hershey Bears Announce Two TV Games, Five to Come

The Hershey Bears are back on tv this season. abc27 will televise seven Bears games this season. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon. The first telecast will be next week, Wednesday December 11th at 7:00pm from Binghamton. The second announced telecast will be Friday January 24th at 7:00pm from Syracuse. It will be the first telecast of a game from Syracuse in the long history of Bears broadcasts on abc27. Five more telecasts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Hershey Bears Hold First Ever Hockey ‘n Heels

If you look around at any Hershey Bears game, you’ll notice a very strong base of female fans. In fact, 50% of fans in the stands are female. Wednesday night at Giant Center 100% of the fans were female for a first time event, “Hockey + Heels.” It was an interactive learning experience for 200 women, all of whom are Bears fans.

Sabourin Rebounds With Stellar Win Over Penguins

Many are familiar with the popular song lyrics, “Anything you can do I can do better”. Thursday Braden Holtby was given an off day leading to Dany Sabourin’s first start in 20 days. A night after Holtby posted a 33 save shutout against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Sabourin answered with a stellar performance of his own. He stopped 26 of 27 shots en route to a 4-1 victory over the Pens.
